This is the term that the doctor's are using to describe my crooked neck! :)
I have been having pretty bad headaches coupled with neck and back pain and it had become increasingly difficult to sleep at night. After being prescribed different medications my doctor finally decided to prescribe x-rays. The results:
LUMBAGO in the lower back (which means back pain)... :)
DEXTRO SCOLIOSIS in the cervical spine - which means by spine curves to the right in my neck. As a result I have pinched nerves in my neck; making my fingers and hands numb (painful pins and needles; along with severe headaches and aching shoulders).
The regiment that is currently being followed: see a chiropractor 2-3 times a week to get my back and neck adjusted and have some physical therapy. My first adjustment was yesterday. I thought that he was going to pull my head right off my neck!!!!! The cracking and popping in my neck and back was a little disturbing.
I get to go back today and have it done again.
If the adjustments and therapy don't work (keeping my neck straight); the next option is a neck brace. I am not looking forward to that.
Last and final option - surgery. Not looking forward to that either. Hopefully it won't come to that.
As writers, we need to draw from our experiences and find ways to infuse who we are into the stories we tell. Julia Cameron, the author of the Artist's Way, states: "We must write from love and we must choose those to read us who read from love: the love of words. The love of naming our experience must finally be the guiding force in what we put on the page."

Don't let them persuade you to go under the knife. Most such proceedures either don't help at all or cause other problems.
You should try sleeping on the opposite side you normally sleep on. That should stretch it out REAAAAAL NIIIIICE!
zolyswad: synonym for codswallop. "The doctor said I need surgery on my neck. Zolyswad, I say. Zolyswad!"
Oh - and you're sleeping with too many pillows.
You should try sleeping on the floor. That will straighten it out a lot! You should also try exercises that strengthen your back muscles. That will alleviate back pain. Ball exercises are excellent for that as well. I am living proof that it works. I have LOTS of back pain, and since I have been doing sit ups, and ball exercises, my back pain has almost gone away. Your abdomin is attached to your back muscles, you see. Strenthen the tummy, strengthen the back!
I've been seeing a chiropractor for just over a month now. The crazy popping is a little weird and the first time he adjusted my neck I thought he was going to break it.
I asked him once about breaking necks since they always show that quick jerk in the movies when people get their necks broken.
He said they couldn't possibly show how to really break a neck because they'd kill the actor every time they tried. Duh.. lol!
Ay! Mateys! 'Tis time to let The Krrraaakin have 'is way wid ya! Ar! Ar! Ar! Ar! The third and fourth toe on my right foot go numb when my lower back is out of alignment. My left eyeball falls out when my neck is not where it is supposed to be. And when my nose is out of joint.... Whoa ... Look out Calypso!!!!
